"I was shopping for home and auto insurance and spoke to a delightful young lady by the name of Gavin at State Farm in Baton Rouge Louisiana. She helped me through all entities of home and auto insurance coverage and thoroughly explained the policy and it’s provisions Gavin was extremely professional, Helpful, And a pleasure to deal with She offered me opportunities to aid me and switching my insurance carriers that I did not know existed and made it very easy and simple for me to do so Also, I am able to save approximately $1500 per year in car insurance Alone Also, I was able to save About $300 per year in homeowners insurance which included better coverage than I had. If you’re shopping for home and auto insurance, I would encourage you to contact Gavin at Alex McGhee State Farm insurance in Baton Rouge, Louisiana"

"Terrible experience with this office. I called in early January to switch to State Farm. I transferred two cars and renter’s insurance. This was to begin on January, 7th 2026. I paid my first premium and scheduled my previous policy to end the same day. I received my insurance cards in the mail a week later and noticed that the card started on February 6th 2026. I called the agent Mike immediately and he looked into it. He said there was a glitch in the system and that I paid the premium for both cars and the renters policy on January 7th, 2026, so don’t worry, our cars are covered. I purchased a motorcycle in April and called to get a quote. I said I would call him after I finalized the purchase. Once I bought the motorcycle I asked him to add this, he said he couldn’t find the quote and forgot to save it. I asked him to rebuild the quote and add it that day. The next day I didn’t see the motorcycle on the application. I called and no response. I called the following day, a Friday, and no response. I called another company and got a quote. I spoke with Mike the following Monday and explained that I would be canceling everything and going with another company. He became aggressive and unprofessional and I explained that he is not helping for future business. He Explained that Louisiana law requires you to submit a cancellation in writing. I said no problem, but I would talk to them later. This was 12 days prior to The intended cancellation date of May 6, 2026. As soon as I got off the phone with Mike, I called corporate State Farm. I spoke to the representative and explained the situation that I was not happy with how Alex Mcgehee’s office Handled things and that I wanted to switch to another agency. I went ahead and added the motorcycle policy through corporate State Farm and ask them to switch over my renters and auto policies to the other agent. I called the new agent in a couple days later, April 29,2026, To verify that everything had been switched over to that agent and it had. On May 12, 2026, I looked at the application because our premium had not been charged on May 6, 2026. The application showed that we did not have coverage. I immediately called the new agent to Figure out what happened and she said that Alex Megehee’s office canceled the policy. I asked how this was possible since they’d never received a written cancellation letter for me, which is required via Louisiana state law, and she didn’t know how that was possible because there was no cancellation letter in my file. The new agent was able to backdate this policy to May 6 so that we did not have a lapse in coverage. We returned home today from a trip to Colorado Springs and my wife, and I both received letters from the Department of motor vehicles. Requiring us to submit proof of insurance from January 7, 2026 to February 6, 2026. They had documentation that we canceled our progressive policy back in January but did not have liability insurance required by Louisiana state law. We have filed an escalation through State Farm corporate because of this issue, and we have also filed a complaint through the Louisiana Department of insurance. We paid our premium on January 7, 2026 and State Farm’s policy is not to pre-pay premiums for coverage starting on a future date. If you select your coverage to be started on February 6, 2026, The premium would be paid that day not a month prior. I called and switched from our previous company paid that day, January 7th, 2026 for the insurance to start and this Agent started our insurance a month later. The agent illegally canceled our car insurance without written approval. State of Louisiana can fine us for not having insurance from January 7 to February 6 and can raise our rates in the future because of a lapse coverage."

"Alex was insanely helpful in getting our commercial insurance setup. And personally he beat what we were paying for progressive for auto and personal insurance.
